fashion appreciation
Sewing an ensemble in my fashion class has greatly expanded my understanding and appreciation of clothing. Learning the construction behind the garments I wear as well as seeing my fashion sketches materialize into tangible garments is incredible. I love fashion on a whole, deeper level now.

October is the perfect weather to try out the breezy, cool look of sweaters mixed with shorts. In warmer weather, opt for thin knits: when it gets nippy out, opt for a chunky cropped version. For added points, slip on a delicate lace scarf: the one I’m wearing is from my Aunt’s charming botique, http://bellaperlinajewelry.com/.

Wise words from a wonderful designer.
Try the updo trend by working a high, slightly disheveled topknot during the day! Tip: to keep from looking to overdone for daytime, make sure your updo is very relaxed, messy, or peice-y.
I went bohemian with a cream colored, peasant style shirt and metalic hippie shoes, but kept the look edgy with navy, detailed stovepipes, a skinny studded belt, and lush curls.

Bold Blue

Ditch your basic black eyeliner for a day and swap it out with a fun, bold blue or teal hue! Spotted on celebrities like ,Lea Michele and Rhianna alike, who prove that this look can be worn on either on the red carpet or during the day. Try out the look for yourself. Feeling especially bold? Then do what I did and outline the bottom edge of the winged out teal liner for a look that’s even more dramatic.
- Use an angled brush to apply a thin, smudged line of blue or teal cream eyeshadow on your lower lashline. Tip: Be sure to always blend and smudge eyeliner applied along the bottom lashline to avoid looking too ‘done up’
- Use the same angled brush and cream eyeshadow to apply a thick line along your uper lashline.
- Flick wrist upward when you reach the end of your lashline to create a wing.
- Smudge wing into lower lash line until the wing, lower lash line, and upper lash line look like one continuous line.
- For added drama, trace a thin, black line of liquid liner along the bottom edge of the wing, starting at the tip of the wing, and ending one quarter of the way into the lower lash line.
- Smudge the black liner on the lower lashline into the teal or blue liner to finish of the look.
